EPA: Servicing Existing Systems OK, but No New R-22 Footprints

HARDI met with the EPA today to discuss the recently released fact sheet on the proposed HCFC phaseout rules. The key point of clarification was that servicing and component replacements of existing R-22 a/c and refrigeration systems is completely permitted beyond 2010 as long as it does not require any expansion of the existing system's footprint. In other words, after January 1, 2010, don't put any new R-22 equipment anywhere that it has not been before.
