Like It or Not, Healthcare and Climate Change Policies are Linked

While I find flaws in a number of statements in this New York Times article, I agree with Darren Samuelsohn's general premise that the fate of either of these major legislative priorities for the Administration and Congressional leadership will directly affect the fate of the other. Perhaps the biggest point missed in his article is the closed-door, seemingly haphazard process by which both of these monster initiatives have been advanced. If there were ever two issues that required full and complete sub-committee and full committee mark-up and debate with bi-partisan participation, it would be comprehensive healthcare reform and carbon emission reduction legislation.
