The Healthcare Reconciliation Ultimatum

President Obama's plan to unveil a comprehensive healthcare reform plan (after 9 months of intense debate by the way) on Monday appears intended to pressure Senate Republicans into concessions for a bi-partisan reform bill out of fear of a reconciliation bill being rammed through needing only 51 votes to pass. However, as discussed in this article, despite their majorities in both chambers, Democrats could still have problems passing a healthcare reconciliation bill, and there will be serious challenges to what exactly could be included in a bill being passed through the narrow reconciliation process intended for budget and revenue measures. In all, I see more political posturing here rather than indications of true legislative action.
