As of July 1, 2011 all HVAC wholesale distributors must act as a collection point for waste mercury thermostats and utilize promotional materials provided by manufacturers.
Illinois EPA staff will begin conducting compliance assistance visits to Illinois HVAC wholesale distributors the week of July 25, 2011. The purpose of the visits are two-fold: 1) the agency wants to recruit wholesalers not yet participating in the program and 2) follow-up with wholesalers that have already ordered containers and assist them in managing and promoting the program.
