As HARDI Finalizes Position, Congress Considers New Strategy

Yesterday HARDI's Policy Committee unanimously voted on an association position to oppose the current healthcare reform bills based on very clear responses to a survey on healthcare reform sent to all HARDI members late last week. HARDI will be releasing key principles identified for positive healthcare reform later this week.

In the meantime, the WSJ is reporting a potential shift in Democrat's strategy to pass healthcare reform this year, with consideration of splitting the proposal into two bills. The first would largely be tax measures possibly passed through the highly controversial process of 'reconciliation'. The second bill may include coverage mandates and penalties, among other things.
