Senate Opposition Grows to EPA Carbon Action

Senate Environment and Public Works Ranking Member, Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) announced that several Democrats have agreed to support her proposed resolution to block the EPA from regulating greenhouse gases under Clean Air Act laws. Any realistic prospects for passage of such a resolution (needing only 51 votes) coupled with increasing doubt that the Senate could pass a bill resembling any current carbon cap-and-trade legislation would essentially put to rest notions that 2010 could include enactment of significant environmental policy.
