DOT Nearly Triples HAZMAT Registration Fees
The U.S. Department of Transportation's Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration announced a final rule increasing the registration fee for the transportation of hazardous materials from $975 to a whopping $2,575. The agency states that the increase is needed to fund the national Hazardous Materials Emergency Preparedness grants program in accordance with the Administration's FY10 budget. Welcome to price inflation.
